You will have easy access to many wonderful tours of the rain forest, the Arenal and Rincon de la Vieja active volcanoes, and giant sea turtles. Take horseback riding tours, white water rafting or mild river rafting tours and see wildlife abundance--monkeys, anteaters, coatis, crocodiles, jaguars, and many beautiful birds.

Monkey Trail

A short drive from the villas, this tour is a must for those who want to see trees filled with monkeys. Several troupes of howler monkeys can also be seen in the trees at Ocotal Beach below the villas.

Palo Verde National Park - Boat Tour

This tour is the best in the whole province of Guanacaste for seeing Costa Rica's wildlife. Palo Verde is a wildlife sanctuary. Scientists from all over the world come to study this rich ecosystem that combines rivers, marshland, mangroves, and dry forest. This tour is relaxing and at the same time exciting with a never-ending supply of wildlife.

The river cruise will take you on the Tempisque River where you can lazily float away the afternoon. You will discover a host native Costa Rican wildlife, as well as a wide variety of migratory birds.You may spot native birds like macaw parrots, as well as migratory birds including ibis, storks, osprey, herons, and egrets. In addition, you will see iguanas, crocodiles, and white-faced and howler monkeys that will come right up to the boat.

Los Innocentes Ranch Horseback Riding Tour

Ride through the jungles and along the rivers at the base of Orosi Volcano. Along the way, you may spot four different species of monkeys, a three-toed sloth, a coati, and, if you're lucky, maybe even a cougar or a jaguar. Afterward, have a wonderful typical Costa Rican lunch on the veranda of the beautiful ranch while a resident toucan circles around.

Playa Grande Leatherback Turtle Tour

(November through February)

Enjoy the once in a lifetime experience of a giant 600 pound leatherback turtle emerging from the ocean to lay her eggs under the moonlight. The beach is one of the few nesting grounds for the giant leatherback turtle.

River Rafting

Take your choice of white water or gentle river rafting. For a bit of excitement, go on a white water rafting trip at one of the many rivers nearby. You have your choice of nearly any class of rapids, depending on the time of year and river of choice. Or, if you prefer to relax and float down the river, take the Corobici Gentle River Rafting trip.

Canon de la Vieja White Water Rafting:

Jump into bolantas (inflatable kayak rafts) to raft the Rio Colorado. One person with a guide in each bolanta. The rafting takes an hour on class 2 and 3 whitewater rapids.

Half Day Corobici Gentle Rafting:

If you prefer to relax and take in the sights, take a two-hour trip down the gentle Corobici. You'll float down the river and see incredible birds including snowy egrets, kingfishers, tricolor herons, and boat-billed herons.The tropical flora along the river is a perfect background for this unforgettable and unique tour.
